Objectively, there is nothing ‘special’ about this image. It is Tunnel View in Yosemite - a landscape captured by millions of cameras for over a century. But to the teenager who grew up revering the work of Ansel Adams, standing here was a rite of passage I once wasn’t sure I’d live to see.

On this evening, there must have been a hundred tourists surrounding me, but the noise of the crowd couldn’t touch the silence in my head. As the sun began its descent and the colors in the sky turned, I wasn’t just looking at a landscape: I was looking at a milestone.

Every ‘worst day’ I have survived led to this moment in space and time. While the world sees another Yosemite postcard, I see proof of my own endurance. I let my soul cry happy tears: not because the journey is over, but because I’m still here another day to witness the light.

Hey there, It’s been a minute. Life’s been busy - work, family, travel, and somewhere in all of it, trying to find myself again.

This summer I made space for a Milky Way workshop in the South Dakota Badlands - a long overdue reconnection with the universe and with like minded humans.

Grateful to @erikkuna for putting on this workshop. And to Jay Grammond for making it all happen behind the scenes.

Welcome to Zabriskie Point in Death Valley. These colorful badlands were shaped by the erosion of ancient volcanic ash deposits, forming a stunning landscape that is one of the most visited places in Death Valley - especially at sunrise and sunset. It was truly a marvelous and soul fufulling place to visit!

Welcome to Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America, sitting 282 feet below sea level. Tens of thousands of years ago, this basin was once covered by an ancient lake. Over time, as the climate changed, the lake dried up, leaving behind vast salt deposits. The patterns you see across the landscape are salt polygons, formed as groundwater rises and evaporates under the harsh desert sun.

Visiting the basin during the daytime is nearly impossible for most of the year due to the extreme heat. In fact, the hottest air temperature ever recorded on Earth — 134°F — happened right here in 1913.

Luckily for me, it was only April, and a balmy 87°F. Walking out to my location was an experience in itself. With every step across the sea of salt, there was a soft, satisfying crunch underfoot — a pattern that continued until I found the perfect spot. Once I stopped, the world fell completely silent. But it wasn’t just ordinary silence — it was as if time itself had come to a full and complete stop. I was utterly isolated — no people, no cell signal, no animals, not even the wind. Just pure, profound nothingness.

I set up my chair, tripod, and camera, and watched as the sun slowly kissed the mountain range in absolute silence. For someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, this was a soul-healing moment.

People often ask me how I can spend so many hours driving to the places I go. This is the answer right here. Chasing light and silence — it’s what centers my being.

Welcome to Artist’s Palette in Death Valley—millions of years in the making. The vivid colors in these volcanic rocks make it feel like you’ve stepped onto another planet. Seeing so many hues blending together in nature felt almost unnatural… like something out of a sci-fi film. But the science behind it is surprisingly simple: it’s just metal oxidation at work. Still, as I hiked through the area, I was in complete awe. My inner kid kicked in, and I couldn’t help but think, “Danger, Will Robinson!” I can’t wait to boldly return this fall and explore new worlds once again.

Beacon of Hope: One of my favorite views of the Golden Gate. This photo is a reminder that everything will be okay, even in the hardest of times. No matter how turbulent the waters, this bridge stands strong, glowing in the warmth of the golden sun.

I’m thrilled to share that I recently won a monthly photo challenge with this image! I’m part of a global community of talented photographers who are challenged every month to refine and elevate their craft. Out of nearly 90 incredible submissions, my photo was selected as the winner! As someone who sometimes struggles with self-doubt, I’m genuinely honored and humbled to have my work recognized. The talent in this group is truly inspiring, and I’m incredibly grateful to Scott Kelby and Erik Kuna for creating such a supportive and motivating space for all of us to grow.

There is something about this scene that gets my sci fi imagination going. One lightening strike to that antenna and let party begin! Not all my photos need a meaningful story. 😂
